“Cartooning and Comic Art” in America class at Vassar begins.

Liza will be co-teaching a class on the history of comic and cartoon art with English Professor and Department Chair Peter Antelyes. An American Culture course, they will begin with the greats George Herriman and Windsor McKay, cover women Suffrage cartoonists, The New Yorker’s beginnings, comics pages like Gasoline Alley, Peanuts; the class will dip into political cartoons, underground comics, superhero comics; cover gender and race issues in the cartoon world, the link between fine art and cartoons, as well as the business and cultural sides of comics/cartoons.

Liza invited Jules Feiffer to present a guest lecture and he graciously agreed to come to campus on November 1st.
